IBMCs 7 inch 5 is the final record in the series of Worldwide Remixes, the first release having come out a decade ago. The tracks are part of the enormous and never quite finished Worldwide Remix Project, a unique and monumental undertaking started in 2010 which features artists from 35 countries, and where all the tracks are remixes of songs with the title ‘Worldwide’.

On this wax are 2 remixes: tracks by the legendary UK group Phi Life Cypher, and on the other side a remix - or refix - of a track by Boston icon Edo G. The Phi Life Cypher remix is by French producer Azaia, while the Edo G track is produced by UK’s George Fields.

Phi Life Cypher are known globally as lyrical champions and new material from them is keenly anticipated. Completist fans will remember their worldwide track is from the 2006 album ‘Playback’, and as with previous releases we specifically acknowledge the timelessness of great music in the creation process for these records.

The original Edo G track is from 2002 by German producer DJ Gambit, and the updated version is titled as ‘refix’ because the vocals were all rerecorded specifically for this track, rather than the usual method of using a pre-existing acapella. Sonic perfectionist and long collaborator George Fields (Under The Sun Records) released the track on his Tomorrow’s Sun album (2020). The cuts are by everyone’s favourite DJ, the inimitable Mr Thing.

It is a true honour to release music with these groups and artists and the same must be said of Azaia, a key figure in the production of Hip Hop in France with his collaborators Kyo Itachi and Astronote of Jupiter A.K.A., the Brain Connection 1978 label, and of course the masterful Venom (Marvel Records) who provided the cuts for the Phi Life remix.
